Fannin County Arrest History

Several offices create pieces of an arrest record in Fannin County, Texas. The arresting agency writes the incident report, the jail records custody and booking, prosecutors decide what charge to file, and courts record the later case. There is no official live county booking roster that brings those parts together. To look up Fannin County arrest records, begin with the agency and approximate date, then check custody, notification, court, and state channels as needed. Fannin County arrest history must be read with care because an arrest shows that a person entered the justice process, not that a court found guilt.

Arrest History in Fannin County

Fannin County arrest records begin with the agency that took action. The Fannin County Sheriff, Bonham Police, Leonard Police, Honey Grove Police, constables, Texas DPS troopers, and Bonham ISD Police can each create an arrest or incident report. The county jail then creates a custody-centered booking entry. These documents are related, but neither one is the final court case.

A booking may capture fingerprints, a photograph, an intake charge, bond, and release data. The prosecutor can decline, revise, or replace the initial charge. If a case is filed, the County Clerk keeps a Class A or B misdemeanor file and the District Clerk keeps a felony file. City and justice courts keep fine-only matters in their own dockets. That split is why a complete Fannin County arrest lookup often takes more than one call.

DPS can receive fingerprint and tracking data from a qualifying arrest cycle, but the public name product mainly exposes reported Texas convictions and deferred adjudications. It is not a live Fannin booking list. A personal fingerprint review is the more accurate identity-linked Texas record.

No Official Fannin County Booking Log

No official public online Fannin County inmate roster, daily booking log, warrant search, or sheriff mobile app was found in the county sources. Do not replace that gap with a commercial arrest gallery. The verified first step for current custody is a call to the Fannin County Jail at 903-640-4171. Give the full name and any known date of birth or jail-assigned identifier, then ask whether the person is currently held and which agency booked the arrest.

If the phone response does not supply the detail needed, request the booking sheet or basic arrest information through the county's written Texas Public Information Act route. For the incident narrative, contact the agency that made the arrest. A lack of current custody does not establish that no arrest occurred, since a person may have bonded out, been released, or transferred.

Fannin County has no verified live booking roster. Use the jail phone, VINE notification service, arresting agency, clerks, and written request process.

How to Look Up Fannin County Arrests

Start with the record closest to the event. An approximate date, location, and arresting agency will narrow the search far more than a broad name query. The fallback chain covers each official channel documented for Fannin County.

  1. Call the Fannin County Jail at 903-640-4171 to confirm current custody or a recent booking, since there is no official live roster.
  2. Ask the arresting agency for its incident or arrest report. Use Bonham's online city request, Leonard's police form, a written Honey Grove request, or the county TPIA form for sheriff records.
  3. Register with SAVNS/VINELink by full name or jail ID for custody and court notifications; verify changes with the jail.
  4. After charging, search the Fannin Tyler portal and check the County Clerk for misdemeanors, District Clerk for felonies, or the proper city or justice court for fine-only matters.
  5. Use the Texas DPS name search only for its public statewide conviction and deferred-adjudication product, not as a recent-arrest blotter.
  6. Submit a written county public-information request for the booking sheet, basic arrest data, charge and bond fields, or other releasable records not supplied by phone.

For a personal identity-linked Texas review, schedule FAST fingerprints through IdentoGO rather than relying on similar-name results. DPS lists a $15 personal fingerprint check plus a $10 FAST capture fee. The public online name search currently uses one $1 credit per initial search.

Fannin County Arrest Request Chain

The Fannin County Sheriff does not publish a separate records-unit counter, online request portal, copy schedule, or local-clearance product. The county's universal fallback is its written public-information process. The request must be written on or accompanied by the official county form. Email it as a PDF attachment to piarequest@fanninco.net, or mail or deliver it to the Fannin County Criminal District Attorney's Office, 800 E. 2nd Street, Suite 200, Bonham, TX 75418.

The county public-information request page explains this formal route for Fannin County arrest records.

Write a narrow request for an existing record. Include the date range, agency, location, incident or cause number, and a precise item such as an arrest report, booking sheet, jail log, warrant information, or basic arrest data. City reports stay with their creators. Use the Bonham open-records channel for Bonham Police material and the Leonard Police request form for Leonard records. Honey Grove has no indexed police records form; send a detailed written request to city administration at admin@cityofhoneygrove.org or 633 N. 6th Street after confirming delivery at 903-378-3033. A trooper-created report remains with Texas DPS, and a school-police report remains with Bonham ISD's custodian.

What an Arrest Record Shows

A Fannin County booking record is a point-in-time custody file. Ask whether the public copy includes the jail identifier, the arresting agency, each intake charge, a linked warrant or cause number, bond, custody status, and release data. Availability and redaction can vary, and the county does not promise that every field is placed online.

Name and booking numberThe identity used at intake and the jail's identifier for that custody event.
Booking date and timeWhen the person entered jail custody.
Arresting agencyThe office that made the arrest or executed the warrant.
Initial chargesCharge descriptions or statutes recorded at intake, which may later change.
Warrant or case numberAn identifier that can link the booking to a court or issuing authority.
Bond and custody statusPer-charge bond when releasable and whether custody continues.
Release date and timeThe recorded end of county custody, if the person was released.
Booking photographRequest only if releasable; Fannin publishes no automatic online mugshot policy.

Medical, mental-health, suicide-watch, protective-custody, victim, juvenile, and sensitive identifier data may be withheld or redacted. Never infer those details from the absence of a field.

Fannin County Booking Trail After Arrest

Booking usually records property, identity and demographic intake, fingerprints, a photograph, charges or warrants, screening, classification, and bond or magistration data. Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Article 15.17 generally requires an arrested person to be taken before a magistrate without unnecessary delay and no later than 48 hours after arrest. That rule does not establish the exact time a Fannin County record will become available.

Record flow: Arresting Agency › Fannin County Jail › Magistrate › Prosecutor › Court Clerk › Texas DPS

Fingerprints and a tracking control number connect a qualifying arrest cycle to the DPS Computerized Criminal History repository. The arresting agency, prosecutor, court, jail, and supervision office each report a different segment. Rejected data, a delayed disposition, a non-fingerprinted event, or an identity mismatch can leave a gap.

DPS notes that Class C arrests are retained when submitted, but reporting them is not mandatory. A missing Class C event in a state search does not prove the local record never existed.

Recent Arrests and Booking Logs

Because Fannin County publishes no verified daily log, use the jail phone for current custody and the formal request process for a booking record. SAVNS/VINE adds free telephone or email notification by full inmate name or jail-assigned ID. It can report custody and court changes, but it is a notification service rather than the authoritative source for a conviction or final case disposition.

The statewide VINE number is 877-TX4-VINE, or 877-894-8463. A notification can lag. Confirm release, transfer, or current location with the Fannin County Jail. If the booking has already produced charges, the Fannin County criminal court case file is the place to verify what prosecutors filed and how the court resolved it.

No roster hit, phone confirmation, or VINE alert should be read by itself as the whole arrest history. A person may be outside current county custody while an agency report and court file still exist.

Fannin County Jail or State Prison

The county jail generally holds local and pretrial custody. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice locator covers sentenced state prisoners. This distinction is unusually important in Bonham because two TDCJ facilities are located there. Buster Cole Unit is at 3801 Silo Road and Choice Moore Unit is at 1700 N. FM 87. Neither is the Fannin County Jail.

Use the TDCJ Online Inmate Search for a sentenced Texas prisoner. TDCJ also accepts a free email inquiry at pia@tdcj.texas.gov with the full name and seven-digit TDCJ number or exact date of birth. It may return the TDCJ number, location, offenses, court and county, and projected release. Call 936-295-6371 or 800-535-0283 when needed.

For federal custody, the official Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator provides a separate nationwide layer.

The federal locator does not replace a Fannin booking search, just as TDCJ prison data does not prove current county-jail custody.

Fannin County Arrest and Filed Charges

An officer records an arrest charge based on the event, warrant, and probable cause then known. The prosecutor reviews the report and decides whether and what to file. A misdemeanor normally proceeds by information; a felony normally proceeds through grand-jury indictment. The filed charge may be narrower, broader, different, or absent.

A dismissal or no-bill does not make the arrest record vanish by itself. Qualifying relief may require an expunction under Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55A. An order of nondisclosure has a different effect: it limits public dissemination of eligible criminal-history information while preserving access for authorized agencies. Exact eligibility depends on the charge, disposition, arrest transaction, and later history.

The North Texas Regional Veterans Court is one documented diversion program connected to the local justice system.

A program outcome belongs in the later prosecution record. It should not be guessed from the first Fannin County booking charge.

Arrests vs Convictions

Fannin County arrest records and conviction records answer different questions. The first shows an enforcement and custody event. The second reflects a court's finding and disposition. DPS public name results focus on reported convictions and deferred adjudications, not every local arrest.

Note: An arrest is not proof of guilt, and many bookings end without a conviction or with a changed charge.

Basic Fannin County Arrest Information

Texas Government Code Section 552.108 can protect law-enforcement material in specified circumstances. Subsection 552.108(c), however, states that the exception itself does not protect basic information about an arrested person, an arrest, or a crime. Other laws may still require redaction of juvenile, victim, medical, or identifying information.

A focused request should ask for basic arrest information and name the specific event. Avoid asking the county to answer a question or create a new compilation. Include an agency, date range, location, incident number, warrant number, or case number when known. The Texas Public Information Act provides the state framework, while the county form supplies the local submission route.

If a released record appears wrong, start with the agency that created the disputed segment. A booking error belongs with the jail, an incident-report error with the arresting agency, a disposition error with the clerk, and a reported CCH error with the source agency and Texas DPS.
